I am starting another bedroll using my bedroll pattern:
This is the playlist of the videos that go with this project. I'll be warping my 36" loom up in the next couple of days, weather permitting. PLAYLIST
I have the 36" loom warped, just need to further thread the heddle. I may be changing my plans just a bit for this bedroll. Instead of making the one long section for the mat, I may use my pipe loom to make 6 sections that get sewn together. The pipe loom doesn't have to be hung.
The pipe loom is a wonderful portable loom designed by Sarah Swett in her book "Kids Weaving: Projects For Kids Of All Ages"
She also has the design for the loom on her blog- https://www.This is one of my favorite looms to warp and use. I have made warp coils and can use it for bead weaving as well as wool or cotton weaving.
My pipe loom is set up to weave 10-12" sections that are about 40 inches long. I will need six of them to make either the mat or a narrow blanket. I can also use this loom for the side bands on the mat, weaving 4 of them.
My brother is sending me several pounds of wool - three fleeces from Cheviot Cross sheep, and one fleece from a Scottish Blackface. This means I will have all different colors to work with / work around.
